Pain and Anxiety Management
Many people are afraid to see a dentist due to a difficult past experience or the fear of the unknown.
We understand that no one signs up for a painful or unpleasant experience. We are very aware of your comfort before, during, and after any procedures that you may have in our office.
We explain our procedures before we perform any treatment. We do our best to provide several amenities to help keep you comfortable during any treatment:
Warm blanket and neck pillows
Custom radio/movies and headphones during treatment
Nitrous oxide - a rapidly reversible gas inhaled to decrease awareness and pain in a safe and monitored environment
A prescription tablet prior to treatment is available to help reduce anxiety (another driver is required following treatment)
We use The Wand: a computer-controlled anesthetic delivery system that is extremely gentle and reduces discomfort during the numbing process
We provide a follow-up call to insure comfort after any procedure is completed.
General and Restorative Dentistry
We are constantly updating our technologies and treatment techniques to best serve you. A wide range of restorative procedures are available to help achieve your most confident smile.
Resin fillings (tooth colored)
Same-day ceramic crown (CEREC technology)
Dental implant restorations
Implant retained dentures
Root canal treatment
Gum disease treatment
We love our littlest patients. They bring a smile to our faces and joy to our office.
Establishing good oral hygiene habits begins at a young age and continues throughout a lifetime. We are happy to provide care for your children during this pivotal time.
Your child’s first dental visit should occur between the ages of 2-3. Our goal is to have a positive first visit, even if we are not able to accomplish a full cleaning. Many children who see us walk away wanting to become a dentist or hygienist!
Dr. Paul and Dr. Ryan are able to get on a child’s level to help create an enjoyable experience and build a lasting relationship - we serve several 3rd and 4th generation families.
Our doctors love practicing cosmetic dentistry. We see time and time again the impact a more cosmetically pleasing smile can make on an individual’s confidence, self-image, and even their career or personal life.
You can easily have the smile you've always dreamed of, so contact us for a complimentary cosmetic consultation to learn more about the unique smile transformation we would recommend for you.

Dental lasers are an advanced type of dental instrument used in general and cosmetic dental procedures. Many times, lasers are used in place of older instruments such as a scalpel or drill because of its benefits not only for the dental team but also you as a patient.
Lasers have been used since the early 1990s in dentistry, and both soft and hard tissue lasers are used at Smile Care. The use of lasers has been approved by the FDA and is perfectly safe for you.
Our doctors utilize this technology for its many applications and benefits:
Often reduces need for a scalpel and sutures
Little to no bleeding
Shorter healing time
Great for tissue shaping during cosmetic procedures
Used to remove canker sores and fibromas
Used in children to remove a tongue-tie or to complete a frenectomy
Headache, Sleep Apnea, and Snoring Relief
Some headaches can be caused by a TMJ disorder. The temporomandibular joints, which are abbreviated using the acronym TMJ, are the joints and jaw muscles that are located on the sides of your head that allow your jaw to open and close to smile, talk, and chew food.
You may have a TMJ disorder if you hear clicking or popping when you open or close your jaw, or if you’ve ever experienced tenderness or have had a hard time moving your jaw.
If it is determined that you grind or clench your teeth, our doctors may recommend a customized mouth guard or bite plate to wear at night. Those appliances can be created in our office after impressions are taken, and should alleviate some of the pain associated with TMJ.
After the consultation, it may also be determined that you need to see a specialist, at which point we’ll refer you to a knowledgeable professional in the Fargo-Moorhead area.
