SmileCare Gives Back

At SmileCare Dental, we are fortunate to serve our wonderful patient family! You can tell the heart of a dental office by the way patients are served. Dr. Ryan is committed to giving back to those in the FM-area and beyond. Please take some time and enjoy these photos from the various ministries that Smile Care has been involved in.

Tegucigalpa, Honduras 

Dr. Ryan had the opportunity to partner with his church and twin brother, Dr. Nate Nygard DDS to travel to Honduras on July 23-29, 2017. They spent a week caring for people by providing: cleanings, patient education, fillings, and extractions. The people would gather at the local churches at 4:00am and stand in line until the team’s arrival at 8:00am to receive care. Throughout the week, the dental team served 160 patients and the entire health care team (Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Chiropractor, and Orthopedic Surgeon) served 1,200 patients. When asked what Dr. Ryan’s favorite part of the trip, he stated: “It was an incredible opportunity to give tangible help to the Hondurans. In a country stricken with +50% poverty, these people shared their joy and gratitude with each one of us. This trip proved again and again that serving God through serving one another is a real blessing.” 

Churches United for the Homeless

This past Christmas season we launched a “SmileCare Gives Back” campaign. We collected canned goods and donated them to the Churches United Homeless Shelter. At the same time, we wanted to help the children and families at the shelter who don’t have regular access to dental care. We dedicated an evening to have all the team members involved provide cleanings and care for the children. Our team enjoyed this so much, that we plan to make this an annual event!

Smile Explorer's Program

Throughout the year, Dr. Ryan and the team have provided dental education by going to local classrooms in the FM-area. They provided fun examples and materials to help 3rd-5th graders with dental education. At SmileCare Dental, we believe dental education is the best dental insurance policy. We strive to teach and train kids with quality oral health care at an early age.
